About the Tour
In this tour we will visit Aljustrel, Valinhos and the castle of Ourém
We begin our tour with the pick up at your hotel in Fátima at 9 a.m. or 2 p.m.
Aljustrel - Located in the parish of Fátima, this village is known for being the place of birth of the three shepherds, Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta. For this reason it is place with a lot of tourism and pilgrims heading to the Sactuary of Fátima.
Here will learn more about the Apparitions of 1917 and the seers families. We will also visit their houses, the Aljustrel's house-museum and the Arneiro's well, the site were the Angel appeard for the second time.
Valinhos - Located about 3 km from the Sanctuary of Fátima and 400 meters from Lúcia's old house, there is a wonderful energy here. We will revisit the events that here took place in the 19th of August of 1917 and the first and third Apparition of the Angel.
Castle of Ourém - Conquered in 1136 to the moors by King Afonso I of Portugal, this castle is located on a top of a hill surrounded by vineyards and farmlands. Due to its location, this place has been used as a defense point since prehistoric times. Here we will visit not only the castle, the residence of the Counts of Ourém and the defensive towers but also the St. James yard where we will find a statue of D. Nuno Álvares Pereira.
And to finish our visit there is nothing better than enjoy a ginjinha liquor in the medieval town.
